The research was released at the 2016 RSA Conference.

Sam Pfeifle came to the IAPP after stints overseeing a number of B2B publications, including titles in the physical security, workboat and 3D data capture industries. He began his journalism career with the alternative newsweekly The Portland Phoenix, and still writes a local music column for the paper on a weekly basis. Pfeifle has a BS in education and a BA in English from the University of Vermont, and spent two years as a high school English teacher in New Hampshire.
Stephen Bolinger is the General Counsel and Chief Privacy Officer at TeleSign, the Mobile Identity company. Prior to joining TeleSign in 2014, Stephen spent nine years with Microsoft, with his most recent post providing privacy and data protection legal guidance for Microsoft’s operations in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. In this capacity, he provided guidance on internal data protection compliance, led data protection and privacy negotiations for sales of Microsoft’s cloud services, and engaged on policy matters with privacy advocates and regulators. Stephen is CIPP /E/G/US and CIPM certified from the International Association of Privacy Professionals, admitted to practice law in California and Washington, and holds an LLM in Computer and Communications Law from Queen Mary University of London. He is based out of TeleSign’s London office.
