Always interesting and always evolving, international data transfers have new developments. On June 4th, 2021 the European Commission formally adopted new Standard Contractual Clauses (“SCCs”) for International Transfers after many years of outdated SCCs. The new SCCs are inline with GDPR and include a section dedicated to the data transfer risk assessment that is mandatory post-Schrems-II. These developments aside, what can the new SCCs tell us about the future of international data transfers and how they will continue to evolve?
